NBA Trade Rumors: Dwight Howard To New Orleans Pelicans Instead Of Miami To Star Alongside Anthony Davis Proposed

Dwight Howard and Anthony Davis

The Houston Rockets is one team that should make a move to save their season while the New Orleans Pelicans need to revamp their roster.

Despite the injuries they sustained, it is difficult to deny that the New Orleans Pelicans roster needs improvement as even a transcendent star like Anthony Davis cannot pull it off alone.

There is already a bold prediction by Chris Sheridan (who predicted LeBron James return to Cleveland last year) in his site Sheridan Hoops that Dwight Howard will be leaving Houston.

Citing unnamed sources, Sheridan claimed that "Dwight Howard is extremely unhappy in Houston playing second fiddle to alpha dog James Harden."  Considering their dismal start and the real possibility of missing the playoffs, the Houston Rockets are indeed planning to deal Dwight Howard according to the report.

Sheridan pointed to the Miami Heat as the destination on a deal centered around Hassan Whiteside, Justise Winslow and possible fillers like Luol Deng.

However, the Houston Rockets need more spacing and actual scoring off the ball and this is why they have been rumored to pursue Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans. While a Ryan Anderson-D12 reunion would have been a good prospect, the Rockets may need Dwight to acquire the power forward, as proposed by ESPN Insider David Thorpe.

Thorpe says "if things don't improve dramatically(for Houston), I could see Dwight Howard (for Ryan Anderson and Omer Asik?) being the guy they deal." The Rockets would not trade James Harden and they have a young rim protector in Clint Capela, so the Rockets are not exactly giving up on the season.

Anderson is a great fit for the Rockets at power forward and Omer Asik could split the time with Capela without compromising interior defense.

On the other hand, Thorpe says "Howard next to Anthony Davis is a nice thought too." The Unibrow finally gets a real star teammate and with his flexibility, they won't clog the lane on offense, not to mention they would be fearsome on defense.
