In November, the Swedish company Frigo (RevolutionWear in Delaware) filed a $30 million lawsuit because Derek Jeter reportedly finds the marketing of the underwear line as "too urban" and "too gay," which he claims as "categorically false".
Frigo has evidence proving that Jeter had a dilemma with rapper 50 Cent acting as a brand ambassador. According to the company, Jeter believes that it would make the brand "too urban" so he "reneged on his promise to promote" the underwear brand.
Frigo, likewise, revealed that Jeter "demanded" that the company "not market to the gay community" because he did not want the brand to be "too gay." The lawsuit filed by Frigo does not only seek damages worth of $30 million but also comes along with punitive damages for Jeter's fraudulent conduct, New York Daily News reported.
Jeter has never been involved in any controversy within his 20-year Major League Baseball career, according to Headlines and Global News. Jeter asserts that not only are the "too urban" and "too gay" claims "categorically false," but the accusations disgust him.
Jeter stresses, "As a major investor, current stockholder and lender to the Company, I am disgusted by (Company CEO Mathias) Ingvarsson's decision to make these false allegations against me in the press, instead of attempting to work out our business dispute in private."
Meanwhile, the Frigo Company proclaims, "We look forward to cross-examining Jeter and his representatives under oath to expose his alleged frauds to the public. We also have numerous witnesses who are waiting for their chance to testify about his alleged frauds and misconduct."
