Necessity is the mother of invention is a common saying, and Ford has teamed up with Corning when needed to produce a lighter vehicle by developing a hybrid window for the rear engine cover and the windshield of the 2017 Ford GT.

The 2017 Ford GT customers will be the premier users of such technology since the car will debut the Corning Gorilla Glass hybrid windshield. This twin turbo charged supercar has increased the height of modern technology by this innovation. The Gorilla Glass, which is technically a hybrid substrate, is constructed from three layers. The outer layer has annealed soda lime glass, the inter layer is made by a noise absorbing thermoplastic, and the inner layer has the Gorilla Glass for Automotive.

The Corning Gorilla Glass has a myriad of advantages just as it is used in the mobile technology and this technology has been transferred from a smartphone to the windows of this latest supercar the 2017 Ford GT. The Mustang news reported that this glass is about 30 percent lighter than the traditional glass. Not only is the Gorilla Glass lighter, but it is also scratch resistant, tough high strength surface, 25 to 50 percent thinner and durable too.

Torque News affirmed that these qualities will be present with the Ford GT, which will contribute to a lot of advantages some which include improved fuel efficiency, reduced risk of glass damages and enhanced vehicle handling.

Ford is planning to produce only 250 units of its carbon fiber chassis and body vehicle, which also comes with top-notch aerodynamic components in its first year. The 2017 Ford GT has a V6 engine that produces around 700 horsepower. The rumoured price is $400,000 of this supercar that can go from zero to 60 mph in three seconds.

The 2017 Ford GT is expected to be launched at the latter part of 2016.
