Legislators Study President Xi’s Instructions Against Corruption

China's legislature and other Chinese authorities formally met on Thursday to go over and study President Xi Jinping's current anti-corruption instructions.

President Xi's ongoing campaign against graft and corruption is currently growing to be one of the broadest in China's modern history, which is positioning Xi to be one of the most powerful leaders from the previous decades.

President Xi presented a speech to the fifth plenary session of the 18th Communist Party of China's (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) on Tuesday, which highlights the attachment to the rules of the party as well as the call for continued efforts for the battle against corruption.

The National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee stated that all legislators must follow Xi's instructions and austerely adhere to the discipline set by the Party in fulfillment to their duties on the Constitution.

The meeting was led by the chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, Zhang Dejiang.

The legislators must be self-disciplined and they must safeguard the unity within the Party and follow the central authorities, which are led by Xi.

The Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate also held their meetings that aimed to study the president's speech. Both vowed to the persistent punishment of corrupt officials.

President Xi, who was elected in March 2013, is trying to shake the foundations of the culture of graft and corruption that has damaged the legitimacy of the Chinese government and jeopardized the country's economic growth.
