Facebook is rolling out a new feature for its popular Messenger app to share photos. The new feature, dubbed Photo Magic, recognizes who among the user's friends are in the photo and automatically prompts the user whether they want to send it to them.
Behind Photo Magic is the same technology that recognizes Facebook friends every time users are tagging or sharing photos. Facebook said that the new feature enables users to quickly share photos in a group thread with friends.
In a statement posted on Facebook Newsroom, the social networking giant said, "Photo Magic will help you keep your promise to send the picture you take without forgetting, or worse, leaving someone out. Also, we know there are times when you want to share photos privately, and Photo Magic makes it effortless to do so while still keeping you in complete control."
Users can activate Photo Magic on Messenger's settings menu. Users who have yet to activate the feature will also receive a notification asking them whether they want to try out the new Photo Magic.
Aside from Photo Magic, Facebook is also rolling out several new colors and emoji just in time for the holidays. The tech giant also added a new snow animation into Messenger. Every time users send a Christmas related emoji to their friends, a little snowfall will appear on the Messenger screen.
According to PC Mag, the features are being rolled out for both Android and iOS versions of Facebook Messenger. Users can simply update the app in order to take advantage of all the new features or just wait until the update rolls out automatically on their devices.
