Known as Greg Plitt, George Plitt Jr., 37, was filming on the tracks in Southern California when he was struck and killed by a train, according to the police, who have ruled out a suicide, CNN reported.

Burbank Police Sgt. Scott Meadows said two men were filming Plitt on the railroad track north of the Burbank train station when a southbound Metrolink train hit the actor in the afternoon of Jan. 17. Witnesses told investigators that even as the train's horn was blaring, they saw Plitt standing on the track, Nola reported.

Meadows said it appears the actor may have believed the train was on a nearby parallel track. He explained, "It's like a blind turn. When the train came, you might not be able to tell which set the train is on."

Investigators are still trying to find out who directed the men to film on the railroad track as it was not immediately clear what the men were filming.

Plitt is set to appear in the upcoming comedy "The Best Thanksgiving Ever," which stars Jay Seals, Heather Adair and David Paulus. He has appeared on NBC's daytime soap opera "Days Of Our Lives" in 2007 and 2008, in "Paul Cruz: Latin Actor (A Mockuseries)" in 2011 and most recently in Bravo's "Friends To Lovers," which premiered on Jan. 12.

Aside from being an actor, Plitt was also well-known fitness model and has appeared on more than 200 magazine covers and appeared on Bravo's reality television show "Work Out."

Born in Baltimore, Plitt was a West Point graduate and served five years in the Army after graduating from West Point.
