Filipino beauty queen Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was crowned Miss Universe 2015 in Las Vegas.

Filipino beauty queen Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach recently left Las Vegas and visited New York City four days after her controversial crowning moment as the Miss Universe 2015 winner. Apparently, it was her first time to be in the Big Apple.

On Dec. 24, Thursday, Wurtzbach took to Instagram to share a photo of herself wearing big black shades. She captioned it, "Goodbye Vegas, hello New York City! This is my first time seeing The Big Apple."

Wurtzbach was born to a German father and a Filipino mother in Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg on Sept. 24, 1989. She and her family moved to Cagayan de Oro, Philippines when she was a teenager.

On Dec. 20, Sunday, Wurtzbach initially thought she was Miss Universe 2015 first runner-up, as Steve Harvey announced. However, it turned out that the host read the cue card wrong so Paulina Vega of Colombia had to transfer the crown from Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez to Wurtzbach.

Short after the controversial Miss Universe 2015 crowning moment, Wurtzbach told Entertainment Tonight, "I was confused. I wasn't sure what was going on. I didn't expect that to happen at all."

Also, Wurtback told the publication that Gutierrez was crying at the time and there was a crowd of Miss Universe 2015 candidates around her trying to comforting her. The Filipino beauty queen said she was actually very close to the Colombian first runner-up she thought it was bad timing to apologize to her for what happened.

Miss Universe 2015 judge Perez Hilton also told Us Weekly that he and his fellow judges, Emmitt Smith, Niecy Nash and Olivia Culpo unanimously voted for Wurtzbach to be the winner.
