"Supergirl" actress Melissa Benoist speaks onstage during panel discussion on CBS.

"Supergirl" season 1 executive producer Ali Adler recently confirmed that more female characters will be tapped to join the CBS show.

In an interview with Comicbook, Adler was asked whether or not Kara (Melissa Benoist) will be interacting with more female characters good and bad during the second half of "Supergirl" season 1.

According to him, they are actually on the process of looking for more female actresses to join the series.

"We're actually doing that now in our backorder from CBS, so we're actually working on that right now. Absolutely. There might be a little twist to that too," he said.

Meanwhile, according to Design N Trend, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum Emma Caulfield has been cast to join the cast. She will play the role of Cameron Chase, and she could be one of the new female characters on the show.

Chase is a law enforcement officer who continues to mourn the death of her father.

"Now a stern, no holds barred FBI agent, Chase's weapons of choice are manipulation and manpower. With little sympathy, and plenty of suspicions, she pursues her targets with ruthless determination," according to The Mary Sue.

In other news, there have also been some rumors that Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan Tatum) will eventually become Superwoman on the show. If this will be true, Lucy will also become one of the characters that will closely interact with Kara.

As of late, "Supergirl" season 1 is on a short hiatus. The series will return to CBS on Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
