The Dover Police Department shared the dashboard camera video on YouTube in what the department called the "Dash Cam Confessionals," Time reported.
Master Corporal Jeff Davis is seen happily lip-syncing Swift's hit song while driving a police patrol car complete with sassy actions. The YouTube video, as of this writing, has more than 22.5 million views since January 16 when it was posted.
The "Blank Space" singer tweeted the viral "Shake It Off" video of Davis, lauding his "sass."
The viral video was first posted on the police department's Facebook page on Friday, along with an apology to the pop singer.
Captain Mark Hoffman, the department spokesman, told The Guardian that he had received calls regarding the viral "Shake It Off" video from several news outlets not only in the United States, but also from Germany, Britain and Australia. He also said that Davis was the "class clown."
Davis, who is referred to as the #DashCamDiva, also went to appear on the Fox 29 Good Day Philadelphia morning show on Tuesday. The department's Facebook page also posted that he also made appearances in Fox News, Today Show and Good Morning America.
The Dash Cam Diva also has photo with "Cake" star Jennifer Aniston posted on the Facebook page.
Facebook users have also lauded Davis, with some saying that he needed a raise for making a lot of people laugh.
"Thank you for the laughs. We need officers like you," wrote Facebook user Gale Emmons on the department's social media wall.
