The world-renowned Swiss analog watchmaker Tag Heuer produced their sophisticated version of a smartwatch, named Connected. Right after TAG Heuer announced Connected, there were already several comparisons from some tech savvies, wherein they posted the said evaluation via the internet.
TAG Heuer's very first smartwatch Connected is compared to Samsung's Gear S2 in all aspects.
When it comes to the design, there isn't any big difference between Connected and Gear S2, as they are both round in shape, while their straps are both rubber with different color choices. The slight distinction of Connected from Gear S2 is the water and dust proofing specs. TAG Heuer's Connected has an IP67 rating which can only resist splash of water, while Samsung's Gear S2 has IP68 which can resist water for 30 minutes in a 1.5-meter range.
Compatibility wise, Connected can pair with both Android and iOS, while Gear S2 can only pair with Android devices, but will later develop compatibility with iOS devices as well, according to Ecumenical News.
Gizmag reported that TAG Heuer's Connected is worth the price because it is the first smartwatch with titanium casing, and next to Huawei in using sapphire display. This luxurious smartwatch costs $1500, a bit pricey than those models that are already in the market, which normally ranges from $299-$899 only.
Connected has a smart 1.5-inch round display that uses 240 PPI or 360x360 resolution, with an Intel processor and the first to have 1 GB of RAM - higher than the usual 512 MB of other brands like Samsung Gear S2.
Gear S2 is a bit sleeker than Connected as it has a 1.2-inch full circular AMOLED display with 302 PPI and 360x360 resolutions. The Korean-made smartwatch uses the Snapdragon 400 processor. According to Samsung, the most important aspect of Gear S2 is the rotating bezel that other smartwatch doesn't have.
All these comparison boils down to the smartwatche's value - TAG Heuer's Connected costs a fortune with not so much of a difference to Samsung's Gear S2, which can only be bought in some hundred dollars.
