The NFL has roped in Golden Globe winner Lady Gaga to sing the national anthem at the opening event of the Super Bowl 50, which is less than a week away. Academy Award winner Marlee Matlin will be accompanying the singer and will be performing in American Sign Language.
According to the NFL, the musician has confirmed that she will be singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the event scheduled at the Levi's Stadium located in Santa Clara, California. The event is being dubbed as the largest event in the sporting as well entertainment universe.
The upcoming performance at the Super Bowl 50 will be another feather in Gaga's cap. The singer has already received Golden Globe for her acting performance in the horror television series - 'American Horror Story: Hotel' in February this year, besides winning a nomination for best original song "Til It Happens to You" at the Academy Awards, scheduled for March.
Aside from Gaga and Matlin, Coldplay and Beyoncé will perform during the Super Bowl 50 halftime, which is a prestigious slot and usually continues to be a talk of the industry for a while. The entire event will be aired live on CBS.
Meanwhile, Chirst Martin and members of Coldplay talked to CNN regarding the band's anticipation for the upcoming performance at the amazing stage.
Coldplay frontman Martin told CNN, "I loved the whole concept of trying to present your entire musical life in 12-and-a-half minutes," adding. "It's a great challenge... We've possibly got 11 good minutes. So we have some special guests and they'll cover the rest."
A number of special guests will also appear along with Coldplay during the performance. Martin confirmed that some of these amazing artists who have loads of experience of performing at the Super Bowl who will be performing along with him include Beyoncé and Bruno Mars.
As it will be a stellar lineup at the Super Bowl stage, Martin said he has been taking advice from several people, including his daughter Apple and Bruce Springsteen. According to Martin, Springsteen told him, "It's gotta be muscle memory," adding, "Twelve minutes isn't long, but it's long enough!"
On the other hand, Apple told her dad, "Dad, the worst that could happen is you'll get turned into a meme and after a month or so people will just forget!"
