The rumor mill has revealed 10 new features of Xiaomi Mi 5 to compete with Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship smartphone will be finally unveiled on Wednesday. The Chinese manufacturer will be holding a media preview of Mi 5 at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2016 event.
Samsung has already announced its new flagships, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. LG has also announced its LG G5 with all new modular design. Now, the tech world is eagerly waiting for the Xiaomi Mi 5 launch event that will be held on Feb. 24. Here are the 10 new features of Xiaomi Mi 5:
1. Irresistible Design
The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be sporting a very premium appeal as its front and rear panels will be flanked with 2.5D curved glass. It will also carry a glossy metallic frame. It is expected to be endowed with a slim profile of 144.3 x 70.2 x 6.35 mm, BGR reported.
2. Pressure-Sensitive Display
Rumors are rife that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be coming with a pressure-sensitive screen like the iPhone 6S. Speculations indicate that it will feature a 5.2-inch full HD display.
3. Snapdragon Chipset
A teaser video released by Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra shows that the Mi 5 will be offering incredibly fast performance. The Xiaomi Mi 5 powered with Snapdragon 820 will be available in two variants, a 32 GB storage model with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB model with 4 GB of RAM.
4. Android 6.0 With Latest MIUI
It will be arriving with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. However, the OS will be customized with Xiaomi's very own MIUI software with version 7.6.2.1
5. Windows 10 Mobile Edition
Since the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 was launched in Windows 10 variant, Xiaomi Mi 5 rumors are suggest that the company will be unleashing a Windows 10 Mobile edition on Feb. 24. However, other speculations suggest that the company may soon release a Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Xiaomi Mi 5, Nokia Power User reported.
6. Fingerprint Scanner
Xiaomi Mi 5 will be arriving with a fingerprint sensor embedded under the physical Home button. It will be first ever Mi series smartphone to come with a fingerprint scanner.
7. Color Options
The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be arriving in multiple colors. It is expected to be available in black, white, pink and gold.
8. NFC
In 2014, the founder and CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun had said that the reason why Xiaomi Mi 4 does not feature NFC is that only 1 percent customer make use of it. However, it has become a common feature of current flagship smartphones. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is also expected to feature it.
9. Huge Battery
The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be delivering faster performance. Hence, it should be featuring a larger capacity battery. Rumors indicate it will house a 3600 mAh battery.
10. Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus
Xiaomi is also expected to launch a larger edition of its flagship that is dubbed as Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus. It is expected to arrive with 5.7-inch Quad HD screen, a Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4 GB of RAM.
