Nintendo has announced last week that around Christmas time this 2016, the Pokémon Sun and Moon will join the catalog of game titles for the 3DS. But what could prove more exciting is the possibility that the development points to the Nintendo NX as full-function gaming console, a new report suggested.
According to Forbes, Nintendo providing new Pokémon games to the 3DS indicate one thing - that the handheld will continue getting game titles support. That being the case, it should follow that the Japanese game maker has no plans of bumping off the 3DS anytime soon.
"Debuting a new handheld right when the 3DS gets a huge game makes no sense," the Forbes report said.
And going by the same argument, the Nintendo NX then is shaping up as more of console like the Wii U and not as a hybrid gaming machine it was earlier thought to be. This supports the recent reports, though unconfirmed, that the upcoming device is being developed as direct competitor of both the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One (and their future replacements).
Interestingly, this aligns with a new rumor picked up by Nintendo-focused blog site Nintendo Enthusiast, which claimed that the NX is a beast of a gaming device when finally unleashed. Pointing to a report by Dual Pixels, the story shared the following features that will unpack with the gaming machine:
- The Nintendo NX will include HDMI connectivity through a bundled dongle.
- The NX analog controller will feature haptic effects.
- The NX can be synced with mobile devices using Bluetooth connectivity and will work as extension of the paired devices.
- The device will also feature social media functions.
- The NX processor though yet to be specified will make the device more powerful than any of the Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One.
- The NX operating system will be a fusion of Windows and Android (in terms of functions and interface) and will be tentatively called NintendOS. The software can accommodate emulators that will permit the playing of PS4 and Xbox One game titles on the Nintendo console.
- The Nintendo NX form-factor will make it seem that Nintendo and Samsung has collaborated on a project.
The details listed above, however, are far from confirmed in the same way that recent reports have suggested that on its Holiday 2016 release date, the Nintendo NX will unbox with compelling game titles such as The Legend of Zelda and EA's classics like FIFA and Madden.
