The director of the movie "Selma" Ava DuVernay and one of the film's actor David Oyelowo will reunite in an upcoming film that is based on the Hurricane Katrina, Nola reported.
The film is yet unnamed as of this writing. Details about the plot are also sketchy but generally deal about "a love story" with a murder twist while Hurricane Katrina wrecks havoc.
The upcoming film will be the third time that DuVernay and Oyelowo will work together. Aside, from "Selma", both also worked on "Middle of Nowhere", which was released on 2012.
Executive producer Jonathan King said that the Katrina hurricane, which struck the United States in 2005, is a major influence both socially and environmentally in the minds of Americans. King believes that Duvernay will give the film some, "intimacy and contemporary urgency." The producers are also happy that they will be working once again with the duo, Ace Showbiz reported.
Under the film outfit Participant Media, DuVernay is said to produce, write and direct the upcoming movie. The film outfit is also the same producer of the movie "Middle of Nowhere."
No date or location of the film's shooting has been announced. DuVernay is known to make movies that involves in issues that affects the minorities in the U.S. society. Movie observers are expecting that the upcoming movie is no different.
Hurricane Katrina did involve racial tensions in both the state and federal level.
Those affected by hurricane Katrina are preparing to commemorate the 10th anniversary of this powerful hurricane. This upcoming movie is not the only one to use Katrina as a backdrop. Several movies like "Hurricane Season" and "Hours" used this hurricane as a theme. There are speculations that the upcoming movie may be shot in the city of New Orleans, which was one those areas heavily devastated by Katrina.
