Konohagore has a new face. After more than a decade reign as Shonen Manga's most endeared ninja, Naruto will now step aside to give way for the new generation. On May 9, Boruto will make its manga series debut, ushering a new era that precedes Misashi Kishimoto's masterpiece.
Mikie Ikomoto's Boruto is expected to pick up where Boruto: Naruto the Movie left off and delve deeper into the story of the main protagonist, Boruto - who happens to be the son of Naruto (now the Hokage of the Village) and Hyuga princess Hinata.
Together with other new-gen ninjas such as Sarada (the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura Uchiha) and Mitsuki (who claims his biological parent is Orochimaru), Boruto will try to step outside the shadow of his big-shot father and create his own legend in the Village of the Dancing Leaf.
Then again, this is the Shinobi world. Just like his father, legends are born out of adversity. And in this upcoming manga series, there will be no shortage of adversarial foes waiting for Boruto along the way, as what the teaser poster suggests.
By simply looking at the poster, one would know that it features not only the good guys, but the bad guys as well. It's like a promotional poster for a Hollywood flick, they have to drop a hint on who the villain is to make it look way more intriguing. Here, we see three young ninja from Sunagakure, whose shady history still in play despite the truce between Naruto and Gaara, and a Mohawk guy.
While I am not expecting the sand ninjas to wreak havoc the way Gaara did in Konoha, Shinki, Yodo and Araya are the type of ninja that will put every team in Konoha to test, including the prodigious Boruto-Sarada-Mitsuki trio.
One proof these guys aren’t pushover is Shinki’s ability to use the iron sand? You’re freaking kidding me? Shinki has the same power as the fearsome Third Kazekage, not to mention he’s also a puppeteer like elite Suna ninjas Kankuro, Chiyo and the great Akatsuki Sasori.
Again, I am not much concerned about these guys. As a matter of fact, they could turn into allies right after the Chunin Exam arc. One character I will have my eye balls on is, yes, the Mohawk dude. I don’t know, but I smell a vindictive evil in him. He might very well turn into this generation’s Obito, if you’d ask me. But still, I am pretty much clueless, all of us. I guess that’s the reason why we should wait for the release of the first chapter. I repeat, it’s May 9 everyone.
