Stephen Dillane might be known for delivering a power packed performance in "Game Of Thrones" as Stannis Baratheon, but in reality, the actor actually finds the series too "brutal" to watch.
"It's pretty brutal I couldn't watch much of that anyway. It's hardcore. Too tough for me.... It's just too painful," the 58-year-old British actor told Radio Times. He further added that the hit HBO fantasy series is quite overwhelming and intense.
Dillane also mentioned that he took up the show only because of money. He also declared that he did not get any professional or personal satisfaction from what others found as his lifetime role in one of the world's most popular series.
Dillane's character was the last genuine Baratheon who did some crazy things in his pursuit of the Iron Throne, like burning alive his own daughter and allowing Red Witch to use his b**tard nephew Gendry's (Jon Dempsie) blood to vanquish his enemies. He was last seen in season 5 wounded on the battlefield and about to be killed by Brienne Of Tarth.
Dillane is due to be seen in a second series of Sky Atlantic drama "The Tunnel" next month, wherein he will be reprising the part of policeman Karl Roebuck, opposite Clemence Poesy.
Dillane is not the only actor who dismissed the show recently. Ian McShane, who will be appearing in "Game Of Thrones" season 6 as a priest, also does not appear to be a huge fan of the hit series.
"I was accused of giving the plot away, but I just think get a f***ing life. It's only t**s and dragons," Telegraph quoted the actor as saying. He was met with a backlash when he lit up the internet by letting slip that his character, a priest, will bring back a popular character who was thought to have died in an earlier episode.
As soon as McShane's statement came out, fans of the show jumped to the conclusion that he is undoubtedly talking about Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), whose fate continues to be a matter of debate since he was last shown in a pool of blood in "Game Of Thrones" season 5 finale episode.
