Sportswear giant Nike has released the set of apparels and tennis shoe Roger Federer will be sporting throughout the clay-court season this week.
Roger Federer, who is scheduled to return in the tennis court at the Miami Masters several weeks following a surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, will be wearing burgundy and a tennis shoe with the same color scheme.
Federer, 34, is slated to play for the Monte Carlo Masters and the 2016 French Open Championships, although his participation for the Barcelona Open, Madrid Open and Rome remains a toss-up.
Federer entering the Miami Masters fray
The Swiss Maestro originally planned to skip the Miami Masters to give more time to prepare for the clay-court season. However, an accidental knee injury that forced him to miss three tournaments, including the on-going Indian Wells Open, prompted Federer to change his schedule and compete in the second Masters 1000 event of the year.
In his first tourney off surgery, Federer will be immediately facing quality opposition led by world's no.1 Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal, who is showing some promise following a string of gutsy victories at Indian Wells.
Same bracket as Michael Jordan? Probably not, according to Federer
Federer, despite being a 17-time Grand Slam winner and the current bearer of the crown as the Greatest Tennis Player of All Time, isn't buying that he's on the same level as former Chicago Bulls superstar Michael Jordan.
Federer has been one of the most marketable sporting star in history, always in the top-5 of the most valuable brands in the sports. Jordan, meanwhile, has established a business empire (Jordan brands and Charlotte Hornets owner) after his stellar career in the NBA.
"I can't see myself as the kind of idols [Michael] Jordan were to me, they are so above all the rest, I feel like I'm not like them. Maybe I am, but it's weird. I can't wrap my head around that."
