Erin Storm, 41, one of the contestants in the season 12 of "The Bachelor," has died on March 21 due to plane crash.
Based on the reports, she was flying the light plane Airborne XT-912 when the accident happened. Witnesses said that just a few moments after her take off from Hawthorne Municipal Airport, the single-engine plane plunged near a tree.
Byron Mayes, one of the witnesses, narrated that he was working near the airport at that time so he saw how it happened. "All of a sudden, my partner started yelling, 'Watch out, there's a plane coming!' and it looked like the plane veered up, lost control and hit a couple feet away from the truck, a couple feet away from us," he told NBC Los Angeles.
Mayes further said that together with his co-workers, they rushed to the site and pulled the pilot out of the burning plane. It was also relayed that the pilot's legs were on fire and she was already unconscious. The pilot was not identified yet at that time but they assumed she works for Pacific Blue Air because of the blue jumpsuit she is wearing, plus the plane belongs to the said flight school.
However, although she was extricated from the burning aircraft, the paramedics who responded on the scene said that Storm was in full cardiac arrest when they arrived. She was later brought to a trauma center close by, but she did not make it and was pronounced dead.
Before becoming a pilot for Pacific Blue Air in 2013, Storm was popularly known as one of the candidates in the season 12 of "The Bachelor," where she was eliminated in week 3. She also worked as a flight attendant for United Airlines from 2000 to 2008.
Storm's death happened just a month after another contestant passed away due to an apparent suicide. Lex McAllister, of the dating show's season 14, died from prescription pills overdose in February.
Matt Grant, the bachelor in the season Storm participated in, expressed great shock upon learning of her sudden passing. "I'm massively shocked and devastated for her family and friends," he told Entertainment Tonight.
Lastly, Grant said that they were lucky to have Storm on season 12 because she was beautiful, hilarious, genuine and very confident about herself. The producers of "the Bachelor" also extended their condolences to her family and friends.
