Many have been fooled by the viral speed archery video, which claims that the archer, Lars Andersen, uses "historical techniques" and claims that Hollywood archery shows myths.
The Denmark native demonstrates his archery skills in the speed archery video. He shows-off his ability to shoot multiple arrows in just under a second, according to Helen Air.
The speed archery video also features Andersen's accurate arrow hits. He can even shoot accurately with either his left hand or right hand holding the bow.
Andersen is also shown splitting an arrow on a blade, hitting and splitting another arrow in midair, hitting a soda can tab, catching an arrow and shooting it back, accurately shooting targets while riding a motorcycle and even shooting with his feet.
The speed archery video also claims that Andersen has been studying archery techniques used in the past. It also claimed that Hollywood's portrayal of archery does not really work with speed and agility. It even said that modern archery is much different as archers do not move while shooting an arrow.
However, a blog named GeekDad does not believe in Andersen's skills and claims. It said that the viral almost-6-minute speed archery video is heavily edited to show only the successful shots of the archer. The writer, Jim MacQuarrie, believes that Andersen can fire arrows really fast, but is just pretending to be accurate.
MacQuarrie criticizes the speed archery video's claims. Including the inefficiency of the arrow quiver and the correct position of the arrow when firing. He said that most Andersen's techniques shown in the video are just common knowledge for an archer.
As of this writing, the speed archery video has been viewed on YouTube for more than 21 million times.
