"The Flash" season 2, episode 22 will see the return of John Wesley Shipp, but only for one episode.
In the previous installments, it was revealed that Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) father Henry (John Wesley Shipp) is now a free man after being in jail for more than a decade.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg explained their decision to free the character.
"Freeing Henry gave us part of the Harrison Wells story for the beginning of the year, which is that even though he's been erased from existence and couldn't be more dead, he still got the last laugh," he said.
Meanwhile, while at the press screening for the crossover episode of "The Flash" and "Supergirl," Kreisberg revealed that episode 22 will feature Henry's doppelganger in Earth-2.
"We have a really exciting, fun doppelganger coming up in the penultimate episode of 'The Flash' that we haven't announced yet that's another instance of, 'That'll be really cool,'" he said.
According to TV Line, Barry's father will be part of a series of scenes before the finale episode of "The Flash" season 2.
In other news, the upcoming crossover episode between "The Flash" and "Supergirl" will reportedly not feature any doppelgangers from the latter.
"We hadn't considered that. Any Kara that exists in Earth-1 would also have to be an alien - it can't just be a 'Kara Denvers from Poughkeepsie.' But that's the fun of the multiverse," Greg Berlanti said.
Meanwhile, the upcoming episode of "The Flash" season 2 will reveal more information about the villainous character Zoom.
As it turns out, Zoom's real name is Hunter Zolomon, and he got his superpowers just before he was killed via electrocution.
The teaser for the upcoming episode revealed that Jay Garrick's counterpart in Earth-2 Zoom will finally come face-to-face with Barry or The Flash.
During their encounter, Barry will ask Zoom how many people has he killed, and the latter will play dumb.
The episode will also reveal whether or not Barry and his friends' plan to take down Zoom will become a success.
"The Flash" season 2 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m ET on The CW.
