"Hearthstone: Whispers of the Old Gods" found the cards bland with the inspire mechanic relied excessively on RNG to shape the meta game successfully. WOTOG will also be entirely different as it will give players slower cards with more punches to fill the gap that the format change had left behind.
The "Hearthstone: Whispers of the Old Gods" will reportedly transform the way the game is played since previous titles did not affect the gameplay that much, except for introducing the mysterious challenger. Most players reportedly found the cards bland and the Inspire mechanic relied excessively on RNG to shape the meta game successfully.
"Hearthstone: Master of Evolution" was introduced by Savj on April Fools' Day. It had four mana 4/5 Shaman minion that had a battlecry. It had the ability to transform a friendly minion into one that cost more. Fans found the card apt, but it did have the random Hearthstone generator issue. If players used this effect on a two-mana minion like Mad Scientist, there will be a chance of getting something powerful like Brann Bronzebeard or something weak like an Unbound Elemental.
"Hearthstone: Whispers of the Old Gods" Reddit user benzedrine created a graph that showed what the normal stat increases were for Master of Evolution's effects and the likelihood of acquiring a minion with taunt, charge or spell damage. Minions that cost two mana, will on average get a minion with one health and one attack more. Unfortunately, this card did not fit in with Face Shaman as it needed more control to be useful. Shamans had been known to do poorly with control decks, but this set had the potential to change that, We Got This Covered reported.
A control shaman might also become a possibility, especially if Thing From Below had anything to say about it. It will be a six mana 5/5 Shaman minion with taunt, and will cost one less for each Totem summoned in the game. Any Totems summoned will count not as just one summon but with the Shaman hero power as well.
"Hearthstone: Whispers of the Old Gods" will also introduce Vilefin Inquisitor, a one mana Paladin 1/3 Murloc with the ability to change the player's Hero Power into a 1/1 Murloc summon. Instead of 1/1 Silver Hand Recruits players can get 1/1 Murlocs making cards like Anyfin Can Happen virtually useless.
