In "The Walking Dead" Season 6 finale, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group members met Negan as he made a memorable entrance. Rick and company were all tied up and sat on their knees when Negan introduced himself to the group. After his spine-chilling introduction, Negan picks one Alexandrian to kill. Negan hits the person with Lucille, his baseball bat covered in barbed wire. He hits the person again, before the screen goes black and 90-minute episode 16 concludes. However, the person who dies is not revealed.
In the comic book, fans know the person taking the bat is Glenn (Steven Yeun). However, alteration in TV shows storyline can be expected. Meanwhile, several media outlets speculating the person to die is either Glenn or Daryl (Norman Reedus). According to Vanity Fair, Glenn could be the obvious answer to the big cliffhanger. The website suggests that audio in the final moments give a big hint suggesting it is Glenn who meets his end. Glenn may have reportedly uttered his final words: "Mag-Maggie?"
As for Daryl, since he is not a character from Robert Kirkman's comics, his end cannot be predicted, it could be now or later. However, rumours about his exit have been around. At the same time, the website suggests Michael Cudlitz's Abraham Ford cannot be ruled out.
Fans will have to wait at least six more months before they find out which main character dies when "The Walking Dead" (TWD) Season 7 premieres, later this year. The show runners Scott M. Gimple and Robert Kirkman had a lot to say about the cliffhanger ending of Season 6 finale.
"The end of the story is what people saw. And when we reveal who was on the receiving end there, that's going to be the start of another story. The kickback effects from that, what it makes everyone into, how people react, how the world changes for everyone, that's the next part of the story," Gimple told Entertainment Weekly.
In addition, Kirkman revealed what to expect in the next "The Walking Dead" season. "I'm feeling, oddly, great. I'm very excited where it's at. What's happening in the show is extremely sad and extremely depressing but I think it's going to put us into a good place going into season 7," Kirkman said.
