"Game of Thrones" star Maisie Wiliams seems to be as rebellious and headstrong as her on-screen persona Arya Stark. The actress recently revealed that she does not approve of the term "feminist" and believes that people are either normal or "sexist."
The actress was speaking during an interview when she recalled that how at the start of the show she was asked if Arya is a feminist. She admitted in the interview that she did not even know about the term at the time. She was barely 13 when the hit fantasy drama series began screening on HBO.
"I also feel like we should stop calling feminists "feminists" and just start calling people who aren't feminist sexist," the actress told Entertainment Weekly. "You are either a normal person or a sexist."
The 18-year-old also revealed her fear of being getting bashed on social media if she speaks her mind on the subject of feminism. However, she had earlier spoken notably with The Guardian when she referred to Emma Watson's UN speech about gender equality as being a kind of "first-world feminism."
Williams went on to speak how quickly one is targeted when anyone makes a mistake or does something with which others do not agree in the present times. Pointing out how some viewers objected to violence against women on the show, she countered that men and animals are also shown being treated badly but no one objects to that.
Speaking upon the fate of her character in "Game of Thrones" Season 6, Williams did hint that she has done lots of action sequences for the upcoming season. The actress also revealed that Arya's training has now progressed even more on physical and technical level as she is now blind.
