Though Samsung is yet to announce the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 6, reports are already spilling out the expected specs, descriptions, and the release date. For example, the latest rumor from China's Weibo site indicates that the phablet will have a Snapdragon 823 processor and a whopping 8GB of RAM.
To be specific, the claims insinuate that the processor will be a 64-bit Kryo chip with a clock speed of 2.6GHz, backed up by an Adreno 530 GPU, Pocket Lint reported. This report has already awakened critics, who are labelling the information as a little far-fetched.
According to them, it is highly unlikely that Samsung could in any way compete against the Snapdragon 823 with the Exynos 8890, which remains its flagship's processor. However, considering that no new Exynos processor has been introduced after the 8890 model, it is rumored that Samsung could come up with another more efficient version of the Exynos.
But these submissions cannot be relied on unless the company itself confirms them. There is also no much information about the Snapdragon 823 though it is said to be the same as its predecessor, only with a higher clock speed.
Comparing performances of the Exynos and Snapdragon processors, the central processing unit is almost the same save for the graphics processing unit. According to Forbes, Snapdragon 820's Adreno 530 is 32 percent faster than the Exynos 8890's Mali T880MP12. Hence, Samsung might use this as a reason to go with the SD 823, which also employs the Adreno 530.
On the other hand, given the performance variances between Snapdragon and Exynos variants of the Galaxy s7 and S7 Edge, Samsung may choose to cling to the Exynos chip as it brings the SD 823 as a replacement for the SD 820. This will come in handy for the company if the performance of the Snapdragon models of the S7 and S7 Edge has not been altered with deliberately.
The claim that Galaxy Note 6 will pack a SD 823 is mere speculation and it should be taken with a grain of salt. The truth is, there are equal chances that the Note 6 could embrace the Snapdragon or the Exynos. Therefore, Note 6 enthusiasts should not make early conclusions, but rather wait for the company's official announcement.
The Note 6 is expected to unveil in the second half of 2016 at an approximate price of $900.
