After the box-office success of "Deadpool," it became a no-brainer for Marvel to green-lit a sequel for the movie. Fans can expect Ryan Reynolds back and it would be interesting to see who will be the new mutants joining the fray.
The first movie focused on how Wade Wilson, played by Reynolds, became Deadpool. Apparently, he was dying of cancer and he had no choice but to accept the "treatment" offered by a mysterious group. Little did Wilson know this will change his life, as he experienced heaven and hell with his new-found powers.
Wilson was bestowed with superhuman strength and ability to heal. However, this ruined his physical appearance, making him unable to approach the love of his life, Vanessa. He went on to find Ajax, the one who gave him this curse as he wants his appearance fixed.
Now, "Deadpool 2" was officially announced during CinemaCon 206 at Las Vegas and two things were confirmed. Reynolds will reprise his role as Wade Wilson and an iconic mutant will be introduced in Nathan Summers, popularly known as Cable, Maxim reported.
It is currently unknown if Deadpool and Cable will be friends or foe but looking at the comics, both characters are members of the X-Force, which hints that they would be brothers-at-arms in the upcoming movie. Also, this team-up hints the arrival of a spin-off movie, "X-Force" which has been on and off the table for years now.
Meanwhile, it would be wise for the studio to retain what made "Deadpool" so successful and loved by fans, Collider reported. This includes the crassness and vulgarity of Reynold's character, which gave audiences plenty of laughs.
Another is giving the film bigger budget for more ambitious visuals. It was understandable that "Deadpool" was on a limited budget, thus fans saw only a couple of Mutants backing Deadpool up in Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
Also, Marvel should capitalize on the conclusion of the "X-Men" trilogy by starting the "X-Force." Aside from the "Avengers," it would be great to see another superhero team fight crime and for sure, it will have a different approach due to Deadpool's inclusion, the website added.
