New details have been revealed regarding the release status of Apple's MacBook Air 2016.
In March, Apple confirmed that a new iPhone would be released before the end of the month. True enough, the iPhone SE was introduced in the market in March 31, 2016. The iPhone SE has been available for purchase in the last two weeks and the reception has been thoroughly positive. Nevertheless, the excitement over Apple's new phone has made Apple enthusiasts curious about the tech company's plans for their flagship laptops - the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air. Unfortunately, according to tech insiders, this year would see the release of only one Apple laptop - the MacBook Pro 2016.
Last week, a tech blogger named Jack March published an article on his website, claiming that Apple would no longer be releasing laptops for their Air line. According to March, an insider revealed to him that while rumors of a MacBook Air 2016 persists, Apple would not be releasing another MacBook Air - at least not this year. March speculates that, instead, the tech giant would introduce a MacBook Pro that is akin to the weight and dimensions of the current MacBook Air models.
"Although Apple have been rumoured to launch new MacBook Air's this year, I've been given strong indication from a source that's not going to happen. It's more likely that Apple will launch new MacBook Pro's that are thinner (at thickest point) and lighter than the current MacBook Air models," reads a part of March's recent article.
Elsewhere, Mac World claims that enthusiasts should expect the new MacBook Pro to be released in June, during Apple's WWDC event. Moreover, it is speculated that the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 laptop would be powered by Skylake processors and would be equipped with a longer battery life. Rumors also suggest that there is a possibility the new Apple MacBook Pro 2016 would have a touch screen and detachable screen like Microsoft's Surface Book.
Since current models of the MacBook Pro go for $1400 to $2800, depending on size and storage capacity, it is likely that the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 would be sold for around the same price point.
Apple has yet to confirm or deny persistent rumors about their flagship laptops.
