Before airing its finale, "Criminal Minds" Season 11 will take a one-week break. The highly anticipated episode 22, which happens to be the final episode this season, will air next week, May 4. The network has released a synopsis for the much-awaited finale. According to the description of "Criminal Minds" Season 11 episode 22 (via Spoiler TV), Hotch becomes a prime suspect of conspiracy. The Behavioural Analysis Unit agent is taken into custody by a SWAT Team for the crime he allegedly committed. Hotch's unexpected arrest leaves the entire BAU unsettled and agitated.
The team comes together in order to find out the truth and prove Hotch is innocent. BAU carries out its own investigation when they figure that a "larger plot is on the horizon."
A promo video for "Criminal Minds" Season 11 episode 22 gives the glimpse at the events of the finale. It shows how Antonia Slade, a serial killer, wants to take down Hotch. Scroll down to watch the promo.
The finale will see Frances Fisher guest star as Antonia Slade. Slade was introduced in "Criminal Minds" Season 11 episode 21 (penultimate). In an interview with TV Line, the showrunner Erica Messer described Slade as "a crazy UnSub who was put away by [Mandy Patinkin's] Jason Gideon 15 years ago." As for the finale, Messer describes it as "very interesting" and "creepy."
In addition, the showrunner suggests that "Criminal Minds" Season 11 finale is a very "team-centric episode." She even teases a cliffhanger ending to the episode 22 which she hopes will give Season 12 an interesting start.
"And we're doing a [finale] cliffhanger of sorts, which we haven't done in forever. It's not a 'bomb goes off/who survives?' cliffhanger, but, 'Oh my god, we thought we won,' and by the end it's, 'Oh no, we're just getting started.' It's a really fun, fresh way to launch into Season 12," Messer said as quoted by TV Line report.
