The Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO plays host to WWE SmackDown for the May 5th edition. During this event, Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel will make a comeback. Jericho's first guest for Highlight Reel would be Sami Zayn.

Vince McMahon asked both Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon to take charge of WWE Raw during WWE Payback 2016. They accepted their father's order. However, tension is likely to trickle down even in WWE SmackDown on May 5.
The ring announcer for WWE SmackDown May 5 is Jojo, 24wrestling.com reported.
The episode starts off with Highlight Reel by Chris Jericho. A Dean Ambrose promo is cut and Jericho invites his guest Zayn.
However, they are interrupted by Maryse and The Miz and Jericho is angry.
He ends up calling everyone idiots and walks away from the show. Miz and Zayn stare at each other and they get a match.
Sami Zayn vs. The Miz: Zayn defeated The Miz due to disqualification. Kevin Owens was seen near the commentary box during the match. However, he interrupted by attacking Zayn. The match was disqualified and Zayn was declared the winner. The ring was cleared after Cesaro came out to save the day.
Meanwhile, backstage, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows tell AJ Styles that if he wants to defeat Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules, he will have to notch up his brutality.
However, Styles wants to talk to Reigns before anything.
Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas vs. The Vaudevillains: Axel and Dallas are defeated by The Vaudevillains. Later, Big Cass arrives and delivers powerbombs.
Emma and WWE Women's Champion Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch and Natalya: Emma taps to a Sharpshooter and Lynch and Natalya win the match. Meanwhile, Ric Flair was present at the ringside.
Rusev vs. Zack Ryder: Rusev beats Ryder and later Rusev and Lana celebrate the win. However, WWE United States Champion Kalisto comes and delivers a corkscrew forearm on Rusev, Wrestling Inc. reported.
Meanwhile, in the backstage, Styles asks Reigns if he will intervene in the Gallows and Anderson vs. The Usos match. Reigns says that he is a champion and he will stand by his family.
The Usos with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson with AJ Styles: Reigns is booed by the crowd. Anderson kicks Reigns in the face as he stands outside of the ring. Angry Reigns gets inside the ring and the match concludes with a disqualification. It ends up as a six-man match.
Reigns and The Usos beat Gallows, Anderson and Styles as Anderson is speared by Reigns and pinned down. Styles' leg is held and he is unable to stop the pin. Reigns and Styles stare at each other and WWE SmackDown May 5 ends.
