Song Joong-ki remains the best Korean actor after he featured in the hit KBS romance drama "Descendants of the Sun" as Captain Yoo Shi Jin. The 30-year-old actor is perceived to be a husband material for many fans that have associated him with Song Hye-kyo. On the contrary, "Running Man" fans would rather have Joong-ki tied with Song Ji-hyo.
Joong-ki has attracted many across the world after he successfully featured in "Descendants of the Sun." His closeness to Hye-kyo in the drama has spurred many speculations that the two Korean stars are dating in real life. In fact, fans refer to them as the "Song-Song" couple and they have been receiving a lot of love and support from their fans.
However, "Running Man" fans claim that this couple 'ship name should be for Joong-ki and Ji-hyo after an earlier clip from the show showed the two eating noodles together, according to Asia Times. Since Joong-ki and Ji-hyo were sharing on one noodle, their co-stars referred to them as "Song-Song" couple.
Furthermore, one episode in "Running Man" portrayed Joong-ki kissing Ji-hyo on the cheek. However, it is believed that Joong-ki and Ji-hyo's relationship was more like siblings as opposed to the romantic one.
Meanwhile, Joong-ki and Hye-kyo relationship started when "Descendants of the Sun" aired on KBS. Their relationship could be nothing beyond a professional one, but many fans believed that there was something more between the two, particularly after Dispatch posted on Facebook the two stars as their cover photo.
Speculations about Hye-kyo and Joong-ki dating started after the two were seen together in New York. The two stars denied having any romantic relationship with each other.
The appearance of Joong-ki in "Descendants of the Sun" has helped boost Korean dramas from slouch in addition to improving the economy of the country. Korean dramas began dropping in 2012 when Jang Geun-suk's "Love Rain" failed to meet expectations after it was bought for over AU$380,000 per episode, Soompi noted.
Speaking to the publication, an industry representative said, "Because it stars Hallyu actress Song Hye-Kyo and recently discharged Song Joong-Ki, as well as having a positive response that it is entertaining, the drama had an increasingly expensive price tag, and the competition among buyers became fiercer."
