Following Prince's death, Jamie Lee Curtis has opened up about her past opiate addiction in a blog. In the self-written blog "Kill the Pain," she wrote that Prince was toxic, and she can relate to him because she was toxic too.

"Too many of our fellow humans, famous, infamous, and not famous at all, have sought the same relief. The symbolism of James Taylor's "Fire and Rain," an anthem of addiction, seems more poignant as now it is a purple rain, another loss to drug addiction," Curtis wrote in a blog for Huffington Post on May 5, Thursday.

Curtis wrote that she was secretly addicted to the prescription painkiller Opiate and all she wanted was for her prescription to be filled up. She also admitted that she took plenty at a time to suppress her emotional and physical pain and claimed she is amongst the lucky ones to survive because she has been sober for more than 17 years now.

Curtis also talked about the action of the AMA and the FDA in fighting opiate addiction. The "Scream Queens" actress said the agencies have been reclassifiying and attempting to address the overprescription of opiates.

Curtis explained that like her most people became addicted to the substance after a medical procedure. She confessed that she became addicted to it following a cosmetic surgery, Daily Mail reported. It was hard to fight the craving once it sets in, the actress added.

Apart from opiate, Curtis struggled with cocaine and alcohol addiction in the past. Today, she is considering her sobriety the biggest accomplishment in her life. Curtis claimed that she mourns the death of Prince and other artists, who lost their lives to drug addiction.

Although the cause of Prince's death has not been reported yet, medical results revealed the presence of opiods in the music icon's body. Investigators also found prescription opiods in his home. Until now, the investigation is ongoing on how Prince obtained the prescription drugs.

Curtis ended her blog by requesting everyone to work harder, and to address opiate addiction as early as possible to save their loved ones.
