Because of the box office hit that Captain America: Civil War" became in China, new movies especially the same genre as inevitably compared to it.
One such movie is the 3D war movie "Brothers" which opens on Friday, May 20. Its Chinese title is “Gang-Dao.” The movie, which presents the cruelty of war, stars Zia Zitong, Ethan Li Dongxue and Peter Ho.
Dongxue and Ho play inseparable siblings in the film who would be separated by war and eventually “cross swords in a ruthless way,” reported China Entertainment News.
Because of the anticipated comparison with “Captain America: Civil War,” Ho clarified, “I’ve watched Captain America. I feel the film is totally unlike our film. The film is based on heroes people are familiar with. But the characters we have built up are all new to audience members, and also our film highlights the emotional relationship between characters, much more than Captain America.”
A Gan, a director known in China for thrillers, directed “Brothers.” His past film credits include “Ghosts” in 2002 and “Xiong Zhai You Ling” or “The Game of Killing” in 2004.
Dongxue’s film credits include “The Wonderful Wedding” in 2015, “Brotherhood of Blades” in 2014 and “Rhythm of the Rain” in 2013. Ho is a Taiwanese-American singer, actor and mode. Past films he made include “Kamen Rider Decade” in 2009 and “Kamen Rider 555: Paradise Lost” in 2003.
