It's official! Kesha will finally perform at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) 2016. The 29-year-old "True Colors" singer initially refused performing at the event over concerns regarding her legal battle with Sony and Dr. Luke.
Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, popularly known as Dr. Luke, finally agreed to let Kesha perform at the event in one condition that she will not speak a word about her ongoing battle with him. Clearly, Dr. Luke did not want Kesha to diss him while performing in front of a housefull of audience.
"We are pleased that Kesha and Kemosabe Records have reached an agreement and very much look forward to having Kesha perform on the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday night on ABC," Dick Clark productions confirmed to Billboard.
On May 17, Tuesday, Dick Clark productions told the publication that Kesha's performance during the awards is uncertain. Dr. Luke's record label Kemosabe Records had initially sent a written approval to Kesha to perform at the event.
However, the approval was subsequently rescinded following the concerns that the pop singer might use the awards platform to discuss about her rape allegations on Dr. Luke. Kemosabe and Kesha have been unable to achieve a settlement since then and now it seems that they have reached a peaceful agreement.
The settlement was achieved following Kesha's reassurance to Dr. Luke and Kemosabe that neither she, nor her fans would use the BBMAs platform to raise her opinion about the ongoing litigation and her allegations on Dr. Luke. Since the news about Kesha's allegation has become public, the singer has gained support from a lot of supporters in the social media, including celebrities such as Lady Gaga.
Following the good news, Kesha did not restrict herself from saying thanks to the fans who supported her all this time through. She added a quote on Instagram saying, "You and I are more than friends, we're like a small gang." Kesha plans to perform on Bob Dylan's "It ain't me, babe" on the BBMAs night.
