Recent reports are out that Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimović had already agreed to a one-year contract to join English Premier League giants Manchester United with the deal including a clause that would make him assistant coach at the Old Trafford after his retirement.
The 34-year-old striker is reported to "have agreed a one-year deal with an option for a further year, and the move could be announced within the next 48 hours", as per the Daily Mirror.
Ibrahimović had just finished his four-year contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain and was not extended by the Parc des Princes residents, allowing him to leave the squad and join another team in a free transfer.
His four-season stint with Les Parisiens all resulted in Ligue 1 trophies as he scored an incredible 113 times in 122 French top flight games since he was acquired by the club in the summer of 2012 from AC Milan for a cheap transfer fee of €20 million by his standards.
Ibrahimović netted 156 goals in a total of 180 appearances in all competitions for PSG during his time with them.
The report noted that the 6-foot-5 Malmö, Sweden native wanted to secure his future before representing his country in the coming Euro 2016 and so he agreed on a reunion with former Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho, who himself is set to take over from sacked Red Devils head coach Louis van Gaal this summer.
The two had been together during the 2008-2009 season with I Nerazzurri in the Italian top flight, when Ibrahimović produced 25 goals in 35 games for Mourinho.
Meanwhile, CBS Sports indicated that Ibrahimović's contract with United includes a clause that would allow him to move on as one of the club's assistant coaches when his playing career is over.
The report also said that Ibrahimović would be a "big" presence for the Red Devils next season after the squad struggled in scoring goals in the recently concluded term. Resident striker Wayne Rooney had a dismal offensive season while new acquisition Memphis Depay proved to be a flop in his first term with United.
Youngsters Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford were the only bright spots in the Red Devils' front line and Ibrahimović could serve as a veteran guide for the two.
