“The 100” Season 4 is clearly one of, if not the, mot intense seasons yet of the hit The CW series. Clarke (Eliza Taylor) has been through so much this season, especially with Lexa’s (Alycia Debnam Carey) surprising death. Amid all that has happened, fans cannot help but remain optimistic that Season 4 episode 1 will hold something good for the cast, especially for Lexa, Bellamy (Bob Morley), Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) and Raven (Lindsey Morgan).
As Inverse pointed out, "The 100" writers are clearly not afraid to kill any of its main characters. In spite of receiving backlash from killing Lexa, especially from the LGBT community, showrunner Jason Rothenberg held that he is standing by his decision.
The publication held that Season 3 has been "especially brutal." It was pointed out that every time the viewers get to understand the characters a bit better, something bad happens to them immediately. They held that the series put too much emphasis on Alie, (Erica Cerra) at the expense of the other characters' development.
While some series, such as "The Walking Dead" and "Game of Thrones" also had the same approach, killing major characters without hesitation, the outlet held that "The 100" will be able to survive with the same technique come Season 4. They claimed that the show's strength relied mostly on its major characters, like Clarke, Raven, and Octavia.
"In the coming season, it feels important that 'The 100' finds its way back to giving us characters we can root for. Watching a show with the fear that your favorite character is going to die isn't going to work for 'The 100.' Sure, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are shows that do just fine with the 'anyone can die' modus operandi, but The 100 isn't either one of those shows."
Rather than going on another killing spree, Inverse held that "The 100" Season 4 should give its viewers, and cast members, a break.
"People are going to die in The 100's fourth season - that's all but a given. But if The 100 has any aspirations of getting a fifth season, it will need to give life and death meaning again."
"The 100" Season 4 is expected to premiere on January 2017.
