"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 may feature not only Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert's return to Mystic Falls.
Throughout the past seven seasons, the hit The CW series has said goodbye to some of the most loved characters in the series. Some of them were killed off, while others just decided to leave Mystic Falls altogether.
According to Hypable, some of the characters that still have the chance to return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 include Jeremy, Carol Lockwood, Katherine Pierce, Lily Salvatore, Lexi Branson, Marie Louise, Nadia Petrova, Tyler Lockwood, Rayna Cruz and a whole lot more.
There is also a huge possibility that "The Originals" characters Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) could crossover to "The Vampire Diaries."
In season 7, Stefan (Paul Wesley) crossed over to New Jersey where he had a decent conversation with Klaus about Caroline (Candice Accola-King).
Executive producer Julie Plec previously told TV Line that she wants to take advantage of the fact that both shows are so connected with each other. This is why whenever there is a chance to do so, they want to make sure that another cross over will take place in season 8.
"It's a rare luxury to have two shows in a shared universe that you could do that. So to not do it feels like we're missing a really fun creative opportunity, a way to celebrate both shows. But it's not like anyone over at the network is calling us and being like, 'You need two crossovers this year.' I think it'd be fun to keep finding small, organic ways to do it," she said.
Meanwhile, Fans immediately weighed in on who they think should be part of the upcoming episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 especially if the series will be ending next season.
Some fans want to see Jeremy return to the series especially if this means he could reunite with his older sister.
Other fans are looking forward to the possibility of seeing Tyler on the show once again.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere on The CW sometime this year.
