Rumors abound that the upcoming book "Winds of Winter" is almost complete. The author George R. R. Martin may release it soon.
Martin recently revealed a few chapters of the upcoming book and this led to speculations that he is nearing the end. He also posted a chapter on Arianna Martell on his website George R R Martin, which is rumored to be three years old.
In addition, Martin recently released a chapter on Aeron Damphair Greyjoy at the Balticon Convention. He is said to be more brutal in his ways than Ramsay Bolton, who is the husband of Sansa Stark, according to GamenGuide.
"Winds of Winter" is the sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. The first book "Game of Thrones" was released in 1996, followed by "A Clash of Kings" two years later. "A Storm of Swords" came out in 2000, which was followed by "A Feast for Crows" in 2005 and the last released book "A Dance with Dragons" in 2011.
The upcoming book will focus on the real parents of Jon Snow who is assumed to be the illegitimate child of Lord Eddard Stark. Snow will also be involved in a love triangle with Tyrion Lannister to win the affections of Arya Stark.
If the rumors about the book nearing completion are true then it may be out before the end of the year. The publication house will also take some time to edit, proofread and print the book before it hits the shelves.
Other "Winds of Winter" spoilers indicate that Citadel's Archmaster Marywn may disclose the secret of the "Others" to the Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen. In order to do so, he will travel up to Meeren and then also explain the significance and context of the sighting to the Khaleesi.
As only he can talk about the context being a maester himself thus he refused to send Sam Tarly to break the news to the Mother of Dragons. Tarly had revealed the sighting of the "Others" to Marywn in the book "A Feast for Crows."
