Microsoft is expected to unveil the new Xbox Two codenamed the Xbox Scorpio at the upcoming E3 2016 event together with their rumored slim version for the Xbox One.
The Xbox One Slim rumors have been circulating throughout the Internet but it was not as popular as the Xbox Scorpio speculations. It will go against the PlayStation NEO from Sony and the Nintendo NX hybrid console.
There have been no confirmations so far regarding the PS 4.5 or the Xbox Two. However, most console releases and unveilings have been traditionally conducted at E3 presentations throughout the course of history.
What makes the new generation of consoles particularly interesting is that they will finally be able to tackle 4K gaming, which is something that the PC gaming industry is just slowly starting to dip their toes in. Thanks to the new line of GPUs from AMD and NVIDIA, the processing power of the new line of consoles has significantly increased.
Microsoft could unveil their Xbox Scorpio at their E3 presentation and the release is expected for 2017, The Verge has learned. It would come later than the PlayStation NEO which is expected to be released by October if the corroborated rumors are correct.
The new Polaris GPUs from AMD using the 14nm FinFET manufacturing process are now cheaper and more powerful than the previous generation. There are even rumors that the Nintendo NX would make use of a modified Polaris GPU for the hybrid console and the same could be used for the other consoles.
Another possibility from Microsoft is that they could unveil the Xbox Two plus their virtual reality headset, Slashgear reported. VR has been slowly picking up with the likes of the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive dominating the market. The PlayStation VR is also being rumored to be compatible with the PlayStation 4 NEO which will run it more smoothly.
The new Xbox could also just use the new VR headsets that are already available for the PC gamers. This is because of the Redmond company's Windows 10 all in one platform which would allow the Oculus Rift to possibly run on the new console.
Microsoft will just have to shock the audience at E3 2016 with their Xbox One Slim, Xbox Two or the Xbox Scorpio. Hopefully, the release dates would also be unveiled at their presentation.
