"The Vampire Diaries" alum Ian Somerhalder's wife Nikki Reed is rumored to have been shaded by her ex-husband Paul McDonald.
Just recently, the "American Idol" alum released his new single "Over," and fans noted how emotional the lyrics were.
The black-and-white video that lasted for more than three minutes featured McDonald singing his heart out over what seemed like a painful break up.
Here's a look at "Over's" lyrics:
"One of these days you'd be calling me crying...Your love is all wrung out... You realized again, I could've told you how it'd all play out... Funny how you listened coz you're missing me now..."
"Now you can tell me that it's all your fault, and you can tell me I'm all you've ever got... You can tell me how you made mistakes, but it's the same sh*t over and over... Same sh*t over and over and over and over..."
"Now you know how it feels to break my heart... Now you know how it feels to tear me all apart... Funny how you're missing me now... Funny how you're missing me right now... Funny how you're missing me now..."
"I know all your tricks, I ain't gonna buy 'em... I know that you've been telling me the truth..."
Reed and McDonald first announced their decision to split in 2014. Their divorce was only finalized almost a year later.
According to Us Weekly, the couple divided all of the assets that they invested in when they were still together.
Multiple sources claimed that the main reason for the estranged couple's split was Somerhalder.
For one, two months after announcing that their divorce, Reed immediately moved in with Somerhalder. The two also started adopting several pets together.
Despite their break up, McDonald and Reed still remained professional when they released their album "I'm Not Falling."
While speaking with Yahoo Music, McDonald said, "Nikki and I are so proud of this album. I feel like through the process of writing and recording the album, we both grew significantly as songwriters and collaborators. It's been amazing watching Nikki grow as a singer and discover a new confidence as an artist," he said.
As of late, McDonald, Reed and Somerhalder have not yet commented regarding the reports.
