"The Voice" season 6 third runner up Christina Grimmie was pronounced dead on Saturday morning.
According to TV Line, Grimmie performed in Orlando on Friday and following the event, she was outside the venue signing autographs for fans.
During this time, an armed man approached the singer and critically shot her.
Grimmie's brother immediately tackled the unnamed suspect causing the latter to accidentally shoot himself.
Following the shooting incident, Grimmie was rushed to the hospital where she was declared in critical condition.
A few hours later, the 22-year-old YouTube sensation was declared dead.
Grimmie's publicist released a statement to confirm the young singer's demise.
"It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord. She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn't survive the gunshot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning," the statement read.
Meanwhile, "The Voice" released its official statement regarding Grimmie's passing via Twitter.
"There are no words. We lost a beautiful soul with an amazing voice. Our hearts go out to the friends, fans and family of Christina Grimmie," the tweet read.
Meanwhile, Grimmie's coach on "The Voice" Adam Levine also paid tribute to the singer after learning that she's confined at the hospital.
"Im said, shocked and confused. We love you so much Grimmie. We are all praying hard that you can pull through this... This just isn't fair," Levine wrote alongside his photo with Grimmie.
In other news, some fans believe that the singer already had some sort of premonition a few weeks before her passing.
On her Instagram account, Grimmie shared a photo of herself with the caption, "When u fear death but also crave it."
As of late, there are still no details regarding Grimmie's wake.
