"19 Kids and Counting" alum Jill Duggar-Dillard recently went under fire for allegedly soliciting money from the residents of El Salvador.
The TLC reality TV star relocated to El Salvador with her husband Derick to involve themselves in religious missions.
Just recently, Derick shared a photo via his Instagram account that confirmed that he and his wife are selling jewelries that were made by the locals from El Salvador.
Based on the photo caption, Derick made it clear that proceeds from selling the jewelries will be used to help their ministry.
"Jewelry on the display table this weekend made by local women to sell as part of our ministry. #economicempowerment #praiseJesus," he wrote.
Immediately after posting the photo, Instagram user @jean9luise took offense with Derick's caption and wrote, "By stating that the jewelry made by the women to 'sell as part of your ministry', do you mean they are selling it to make funds for your ministry? If it is about economic empowerment, shouldn't the funds go back into the pockets of the women and families who made the items?"
Another fan @cpt.kc30 wrote, "That's not the Dillard way. They are scamming again."
Instagram user @micheledupuisbaird wrote, "So poor, what a shame you take their $."
Meanwhile, there are also some supporters that defended the Dillards.
Instagram user @gabbie__walker wrote, "Don't assume that the money is being taken against their will. They probably want to donate to the cause and this is the only way they know how. If you don't have something nice to say to them please do not comment. Many comments come off as rude even if they are not intended to."
Another fan @allison__jean wrote, "They're helping the women to sell their own jewelry for the women to make money and learn to support themselves economically. He hashtagged it 'economic empowerment.' Pretty self-explanatory."
