The third installment of the historical fantasy television series, "Reign," is an episode away from its finale. With the fourth season already confirmed, recent reports are telling that Mary, Queen of Scots (played by Adelaide Kane), may get a new love interest in the upcoming season.
It can be remembered that Mary's love interest Francis II of France (played by Toby Regbo) already died in the current season. With that said, reports are claiming that "Reign" Season 4 is going to introduce another character that would fill the spot where Regbo left in the series.
According to Entertainment Weekly, a new character named Lord Darnley will join the cast of "Reign" Season 4. The character is said to be the Queen's second cousin, and will be portrayed by Will Kemp. It was also said that Kemp already have a 3 episode deal for "Reign" Season 4, and was given an option to be one of the regular cast members of the show.
According to reports, although Lord Darnley appears to be a charming man, he is said to be a man with big ambitions, and that his marriage with Queen Mary should give him the power over England and Scotland.
It was also revealed that the history itself confirms the affection of the Queen towards Darnley while she is still grieving with his husband's death. History also exposed that Mary and Darnley did marry each other, but the marriage was cut short due to Darnley's arrogant behavior. At the end, Lord Darnley faced his death, and it was the Queen who was suspected as the one who killed his husband.
On the other hand, according to Deadline, Torrance Coombs, who plays the half-brother of Francis, is going to depart from "Reign" Season 4. The same publication cited that Kemp's addition to the series should fill the empty spots that Coombs and Regbo left.
As of the moment, the season finale episode of "Reign" Season 3, titled "Spiders in a Jar," will air on June 20, Monday.
