The "Fast and Furious 8" cast just got even better than before. After "The Cider House Rules" actress Charlize Theron confirmed her role in the upcoming film, it was now Helen Mirren's turn to give the film a "badass" turn.
"The Hundred-Foot Journey" actress' involvement with the popular movie franchise was confirmed by Elle. In an interview with the publication, the 70-year-old actress confirmed that she will be starring in the eighth installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, which is slated for release on April 14, 2017.
Mirren will be joining Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Theron among other crew members. It is speculated that Mirren might play the role of the villain in the movie to give it a badass and an interesting twist. Even though the news about her villainous role has not been confirmed yet, the fans would really like to see that happening.
During the interview, the "Eye In The Sky" actress revealed how she loves cars and has always been interested in driving one. In fact, she told the makers of the film that she will only be ready for the role if she is allowed to drive a car in the movie.
Diesel confirmed in February 2016 that the series will not be just limited to the eight installment. In fact, there will be the ninth and tenth installments as well, expected to hit the box office in 2019 and 2021, respectively.
Mirren previously appeared on "The Graham Norton Show" in April 2016. During the interview, the actress showed her interest in becoming a part of the "Fast and Furious" franchise. When asked why, Mirren replied, "Things explode all around you. That with cars would be my dream come true." In fact, the actress told Yahoo Movies in 2015 that being a part of "Fast and Furious" movie is her ambition, in addition to expressing her admiration for Diesel.
"I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving," Mirren said. "I'll be in Fast and Furious 8. I have to say Vin Diesel is brilliant. I love Vin Diesel. He's a great guy, smart - I love him."
