This week, "Nanatsu no Taizai" released two chapters and some light has been shed on Meliodas' whereabouts. Also, a powerful ally returned, who has long been presumed dead.
Both chapters are now out in Manga Mint and in "Nanatsu no Taizai" chapter 179, the other participants in the Vaizel tournament were seen fighting the demons rampaging all over Britannia. Arthur was joined by the samurai, Nanashi. They were successful in fending off some demons and the samurai remarked that as long as Arthur has the mysterious cat on his shoulders.
Meanwhile, at the Forest of White Dreams, a Holy Knight is being hunted down. The people are scared to lose their lives if they will not obey the Ten Commandments. He then passed out due to exhaustion, only to find himself inside the Boar Hat once he regained consciousness.
Moving on to the next chapter, he was welcomed by Elizabeth and Hawk as he helped himself get back to full strength. Meanwhile, a rumor of an armored knight roaming around had spread as well. As the former Holy Knight regained his strength, he bid his farewell to those who took care of him. Then, it was revealed that they have Meliodas' body all along, but remains unconscious.
Suddenly, the said armored knight made his way to the Boar Hat and as Elizabeth and Hawk stood terrified, the knight finally introduced himself and as it turns out, the Great Holy Knight Zaratras is actually alive.
At the beginning of the series, Zaratras was seen brutally murdered and the blame was put on the Seven Deadly Sins. Now, it would be interesting to see if both parties actually agreed on this or Zaratras conspired with other people to pull off this plan. It is unlikely that he arranged this plan with Meliodas' team consent as they were also shocked to see the strongest Holy Knight killed that easily.
Fans are probably wondering if Gilfrost and Zaratras is just the same person as their resemblance is uncanny. A theory over at Marineford suggests that Gilfrost and Gilthunder are siblings. Also, when Denzel casted a spell on Fraudrin that will cause him to see everyone that he killed, Zaratras did not appear.
The only possibility is that when Merascylla sent back souls similar to what happened to Elaine, Zaratras' soul probably wondered around as well but could not find a body, which leads to him residing inside Gilfrost's body. Here is a review of the previous chapter.
