China will focus on better economic quality in 2015 and adapt itself to slower growth amid headwinds in the global economy, the country’s top government officials agreed on Thursday.
Economic growth should stay within range and restructuring of the economy will be the main priority in policy decisions, according to a statement from the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee headed by President Xi Jinping.
China's policymakers also pushed during the meeting for the implementation of reforms, which comes at the heels of Beijing's increasingly intensive measures against corruption in recent years.
In January this year, President Xi addressed Party committee members on all levels to support judicial departments in independently exercising judicial rights and to coordinate with them so that the departments can carry out their duties.
The meeting also promoted encouragement of mass innovation and better public services, as well as investment, fundraising, pricing, and taxation reform, domestic consumption and increased efficient investments along with more modernized agriculture and urbanization sectors.
With China's growth slowing to a 24-year low of 7.4 percent in 2014, macroeconomic policy has to be improved, fiscal policy maintained, and for monetary policy to stay frugal, the officials said during the meeting.
The meeting also had discussions regarding the government work report for the past year that is due to be presented to the National People's Congress during the annual "Two Session" in March this year.
The officials also examined a report on national discipline inspections that pushed for increased awareness in the CPC regarding the grim and complicated graft situation in the country and to combat corruption with a determined attitude and decisive measures.
