Jeremy Lin made his mark in the NBA in 2012 when he took over the New York Knicks and "Linsanity" was born. According to the latest rumors, Lin is very open to returning to New York even though they already have Derrick Rose as the starting point guard.
The 27-year-old guard was in China as part of his annual tour of Asia. He was present at the Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin when he was asked if he would like to play again for the Knicks.
"Ever since I left I've been open to going back, and I still am. Never say never. That's the one thing in the NBA. Never say never. So I've always been open, but right now, I'm not sure it's the best timing," Lin said.
However, Lin added that it might not happen this season due to the Knicks already trading for Derrick Rose last week. He also mentioned that he is entering the prime of his career and he would want to play wherein he can make the most of his opportunity.
The Harvard product started his career as an undrafted free agent with the Golden State Warriors in 2010 before breaking out in New York in 2012. The Knicks claimed Lin off of waivers and it paid off as "Linsanity" was born.
However, the Knicks failed to re-sign him that offseason and he agreed to a three-year deal with the Houston Rockets. He had a good two years in Houston but he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2014.
After a mediocre season in Hollywood, Lin signed a two-year, $4.3 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets and it was a worth it. According to SB Nation, he finished seventh in the 2015-16 Sixth Man of the Year voting after averaging 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
The season Lin had proved that he is here to stay in the NBA. He opted out of his contract with the Hornets and he will likely get multiple offers from many teams with an annual salary ranging from $8 to $12 million.
Some of the teams that have been linked with Lin include the Knicks, Hornets, Lakers, Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Brooklyn Nets. He is open to returning to Charlotte but he prefers a team wherein he could be a starter.
