"Game of Thrones" actor Kit Harington has joined countless number of celebrities who have voiced their opinion over Brexit.
One of the major news that has rocked the world in the past few days has been Britain's decision to leave the European Union. The move, dubbed as Brexit, has garnered a majority vote following a poll conducted on Thursday, June 23. More than 50 percent of the voters opted for Britain's exit, as compared to the 48 percent who chose for the country to remain part of European Union. In a video taken by a fan, Harington commented that he was unhappy with the results of the vote, Bustle reported.
The said video was filmed while the actor was signing autographs for fans waiting for him on the street. He described the day as a sad one and explained that the reason for his gloomy mood was because Britain has left the European Union. Harington also confirmed that he participated in the voting activities to help determine the country's fate. He also noted that the decision to move away from the European Union was a "terrible mistake."
The actor's response was similar to the reactions that other celebrity supporters have echoed in previously released statements or social media posts. Prior the vote, some British stars even signed an open letter that urged the people not to vote for Britain's exit from the European Union. Some of these celebrities included "Sherlock Holmes" star Benedict Cumberbatch, former "Star Trek" actor Patrick Stewart, director Steve McQueen and Keira Knightley, Los Angeles Times reported.
TV host James Corden also took to Twitter on Friday, June 24, to share his thoughts about Brexit. He shared his disbelief over the results of the vote and extended his apologies to Britain's younger generation, as indicated in the same report. Corden explained that majority vote for Brexit may have let the youth down. Singer Ellie Goulding also took to the same social media site to state that she was "heartbroken" over the news.
Famed author of the "Harry Potter" book series J.K. Rowling has also expressed her views on the issue in a simple Twitter message. She wrote, "I don't think I've ever wanted magic more."
