The New Day are one of the most entertaining and successful stables in the WWE today. However, the latest rumors suggest that the current WWE Tag Team champions might be splitting up soon and Big E. will be pushed a singles star.
The trio of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E. started off slowly in 2014 as a babyface black gospel gimmick. Their first act that did not get over the crowd but it turned around pretty quickly the next year when they turned heel and encouraged the fans to embrace positivity.
The success of The New Day can be credited to the chemistry of its three members as well as their comedic timing. They are two-time WWE Tag Team champions and their merchandise sales are one of the highest in the company.
The New Day is currently in a feud against The Wyatt Family, wherein the plans of a possible breakup were already planted. Woods was very serious in his latest promo and encouraged Kingston and Big E. to don't underestimate the Wyatts.
According to Daily Wrestling News, some top WWE officials believe that The New Day is not as good as it used to be. They are reportedly pushing for their breakup in the upcoming WWE brand extension while Big E. would receive a huge singles run.
Other top WWE officials are opposed to the idea since The New Day are still at the top of the merchandise sales. The WWE is known to push superstars who move merchandise and the tag team champs are one of the best in doing it.
As for the Big E. push, the same officials that are opposed to The New Day breaking up because Kingston and Woods might get lost in the shuffle, Cageside Seats reported. The New Day will break up eventually but the WWE have to time it right.
Before they were formed as a stable, Big E. and Kingston were wrestlers stuck on the midcard with the WWE creative team not knowing what to do with them. On the other hand, Woods was just an up and coming NXT call up.
Out of the three members, Big E. had the most potential since he has the physique and mic skills while Kingston is already a veteran that already reached his ceiling and Woods is too small to be considered as a future world champion.
