"Hawaii Five-0" has already began filming for Season 7. On Wednesday morning, only one of the main characters needed to come to work to film scenes but a number of the "Five-0" stars came to Waikiki to be part of a customary Hawaiian ritual that marks the official start of the CBS series' upcoming new season.
Chi McBride who plays Lou Grover on the CBS crime drama was scheduled to film scenes last Wednesday but made it a point to attend the occasion. He quipped, "I don't know why everybody's kissing and hugging?!?"
He added, "We just left out of here a few weeks ago!"
Executive Producer Peter Lenkov was proud to say that all the main stars attended the blessing, according to Honolulu Star-Advertiser. Lenkov also said, "We take this very seriously. Clearly it's something that's meaningful to everybody."
Early morning, right after sunrise at the Kahanamoku Beach in front of the the Hilton Hawaiian Village lagoon, series regulars Alex O'Loughlin, Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park, Jorge Garcia, Teilor Grubbs, Dennis Chun, Chi McBride and Shawn Garnetta all joined Lenkov for the special ceremony.
While the series was on break, Daniel Dae Kim made headlines when he took on the role of The King of Siam in "The King and I" on Broadway. According to People, Kim felt lucky to finally have the chance to appear in theater for a role that Ken Watanabe also played.
Watanabe, on the other hand, received a Tony nomination in 2015 for his performance on stage.
Kim actually had a very busy schedule but he never hesitated to make room for Broadway. He explained, "I knew I had to jump at this chance because it's Lincoln Center, it's [director] Bartlett Sher and I didn't know when this train was going to come around again."
Moving on Kim recently came back to Honolulu to return to the set of "Hawaii Five-0." He said he was happy to be back although he was still uncertain if his time on Broadway would have some impact on his role as Chin Ho Kelly.
"Hawaii Five-0" Season 7 fans will be the judge of that when it premieres this fall on CBS.
