NVIDIA has recently revealed their new GTX 1060 that will take on the AMD Radeon RX 480 for $249 and partner cards from Inno3D, ASUS and Gigaybyte have already turned up.
The GTX 1060 is claimed to have the performance of the GTX 980 with a lower 120W power draw and the cheaper price tag as the latter currently costs around $300 after the price markdown. NVIDIA seems to have interrupted the stride of RX 480 with their new paper launch for the Pascal GPU card.
Some are still skeptical about the card's actual launch on July 19 as it could also suffer the same fate as the GTX 1070 and the GTX 1080 did with the supply issues. However, users are already holding off on buying their RX 480s as they wait for the GTX 1060 benchmarks to decide whether they will go Team Green or Team Red.
ASUS has already revealed three GTX 1060 cards that will be released probably several weeks after the Founders Edition launch, Anandtech has learned. The company will be launching the blower type Turbo, the Dual GTX 1060 and an ROG STRIX variant as well.
Gigabyte has also teased their new GTX 1060 G1 Gaming video card with their proprietary Windforce X2 cooler and RGP lighting. They will also be using a custom PCB as they announced that it will have a 6+1 phase power design which could be better for overclocking.
The GTX 1060 itself will have a boost clock of 1.7GHZ and 1280 CUDA cores plus 6GB of GDDR5 memory, Polygon reported. NVIDIA is keeping up with their trend of downgrading the CUDA cores according to the current resolutions 2560, 1920 and now 1280.
Inno3D is the third partner to have revealed their GTX 1060 custom AIB cards. They will be launching the Inno3D GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming OC X2 with two fans and the GTX 1060 iChill X3 with three fans. However, both of the cards will have the same boost clock of 1784MHz.
Custom GTX 1060 card prices are not yet revealed but some are already expecting that it might be more expensive than the $249 MSRP. ASUS, Inno3D and Gigabyte will have to announce their prices as the release date nears.
