"Arrow" season 5 star John Barrowman was recently upgraded from recurring guest star to series regular status.
According to TV Line, Barrowman's new ranking on the show means that his character Malcolm Merlyn will be part of all of the upcoming episodes from the hit The CW series.
The publication also confirmed that Barrowman has been cast for a recurring role in another The CW series "Legends of Tomorrow."
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Barrowman will crossover to another The CW show.
Last season, his character also appeared in "The Flash" season 2 for a short story arc.
In other news, fans of "Arrow" and Barrowman expressed their mixed reactions over the news.
One fan @Sarah T said that she loves Barrowman and his character in "Arrow." However, it seemed as though he was overused in the series.
"I like John B, but his character was overused and overplayed in 'Arrow,' especially in season 4. I was actually hoping they would reduce his role significantly. Give us a break a bit, let us MISS the character," the fan wrote.
Another fan @Carrie seconded the fan's statement by saying, "I agree. No offense to the actor himself, but I was hoping they'd kill off his character. I feel like he should've been gone a while ago. I have no idea how he's going to be a regular on all of those shows. I find it bizarre."
One fan @Larry noted, "You're absolutely correct been overused if you ask me they ruin the character completely."
On the other hand, there were also some fans who are excited over Barrowman's casting in other The CW shows.
@Greg wrote, "This is great news! I love Barrowman but 'Arrow' hasn't really known what to do with him for two seasons now. With this deal, he can pop in for a few episodes a season, and then bounce around the other shows. He could also act as the connective tissue to make the crossovers/timelines make more sense and line up better."
Another fan @Luis wrote, "This might be a positive step for John."
"Arrow" season 5 will premiere on The CW sometime this October.
